~ Southwest Silver Cast Horse Jewelry ~

Southwest Reflection: By 1880, Southwest artists had begun casting silver jewelry, using sandstone or tufa. The craftsman would carve the design to be cast into sandstone or volcanic tuff or tufa. The stone would then be blacken with smoke to keep the silver from sticking to the mold. Only 5 or 6 casts could be made using this method. Today, modern casting techniques are used.

Southwest Sterling Silver Running Horse Cast Pendant. Cast and handcrafted of sterling silver. The horse has always been an important part of Southwest life, used for hunting and transportation. Approx. 2 1/4" width x 1 1/4" height. Sterling silver chain included.
